Donna Courtney is a native of Tabor City, North Carolina, and has lived in Little River, South Carolina, for the past 15 years. Before becoming the owner of Courtney Inventory, she was a property and casualty agent for more than 30 years, employed by a large national insurance company and also an independent agency. Her reputation throughout her community as an insurance agent for providing excellent customer service has followed her into the inventory industry. This, coupled with her extensive insurance knowledge, helped her build her business quickly and successfully.
This extensive insurance experience provided her with first-hand knowledge of the devastation created by fires, thefts, and storms. In her role as an insurance agent, she assisted many clients through these tragedies, often observing financial losses due to the clients not having the knowledge or proof of what they owned. Therefore, during the sales process with new policyholders, Donna explained the need for an inventory to help recover from a loss. Unfortunately, when it was time to file a claim, a few were prepared. Most were not.
Donna has always imagined herself as an insurance industry advocate, but felt there was more she could do to “make a difference” besides selling insurance policies. Her inventory services will help provide the proof residential and business owners will need to bridge the gap between having insurance and experiencing an equitable claim process.
The transition from insurance professional to the home and business inventory industry was seamless. She thought of the need for providing inventories for at least 8 years, but didn’t proceed with the idea because she felt starting the business from scratch would be too daunting of a task. After a great deal of due diligence, she chose Nationwide Inventory Professionals as the springboard to launch Courtney Inventory. The professionalism, experience, business background, and encouragement offered to her as a Licensee nailed down Donna’s decision to move forward with her new career, knowing she wouldn’t be alone in this new endeavor.
Donna graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Merchandising, Marketing, and Business Administration. In addition to being a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) in 2015, she currently holds South Carolina property, casualty, life, accident, health, and broker’s insurance licenses. Additionally, she has achieved her Certified Inventory Specialist (CIS) and Certified Appraisal Examiner (CAE) designations through the National Inventory Certification Association.
